Pune: A significant boost for international travel from Pune is on the horizon. IndiGo, India's leading low-cost carrier, has secured the green light to launch new flight routes to Dubai and Bangkok starting October 27.
There will be a daily flight from Pune to Dubai and a bi-weekly flight to Bangkok from October 27, said Murlidhar Mohol, Minister of State for Civil Aviation, on Thursday.
While another airline had expressed interest in the same routes, IndiGo was ultimately awarded the rights to operate the new flights during the upcoming winter schedule. The specific days and times of these flights are still being determined.

The addition of daily flights to Dubai will bridge the geographic gap between the two locations, creating new opportunities for economic growth.
Furthermore, the direct connection to Bangkok will provide greater convenience for tourists seeking to explore this popular Southeast Asian destination.
Relief for frustrated travellers
Travellers from Pune have long faced limited options and frequent disruptions when planning international trips. With only a daily flight to Dubai by SpiceJet and a weekly flight to Singapore via Vistara, many have found it challenging to find reliable and convenient connections.
The financial troubles of SpiceJet have further exacerbated these issues, leading to frequent flight cancellations and delays.
IndiGo's decision to launch new routes to Dubai and Bangkok is a welcome relief for Pune residents, offering a much-needed boost to international travel options and providing a more reliable and affordable way to connect with the world.
The added convenience and choice provided by IndiGo are expected to transform Pune's standing as a key hub for international travel.
